ParStream is a Realtime Big data Analytics Software provider that operates from Cupertino and Germany. Launched in 2011 in Germany by Michael Hummel, Joerg Bienert, Norbert Heuber, ParStream is able to analyse massive amounts structured and semi-structured data at high-speed. The High Performance Compressed Index (HCPI) that they develop enables fast and accurate decompression of the data.
ParStream does not use Hadoop as Joerg Bienert believes it is not great for real-time analytics and used this unique compressed indexing method with massive parallel processing to deliver real-time and low latency results for Big Data analytics. The database allows the companies to analyze large amounts of data and store it in anywhere in the network. ParStream is capable of running on standard infrastructure, in private or public clouds as well as on premises on single servers or dedicated server clusters.Instead of sending this data to a centralized server, now a company can store the data at the edge of the network, closer and track results even across a highly distributed network.
ParStream was part of the Cisco Entrepreneurs in Residence start up program. Late 2015, Cisco acquired Parstream and team is integrated into Cisco’s Analytics and Automation portfolio [1], joining the Data and Analytics Group. ParStream is available as single server, cluster and cloud edition.The company has bagged a total of $13.6M funds from 5 investors.

After the acquisiton of ParStream by Cisco, the company is named and known as Cisco ParStream.
