American Renal Holdings Inc. provides kidney dialysis services for patients suffering from chronic kidney failure in the United States. It offers both outpatient and inpatient dialysis treatments, as well as ancillary services, such as administering dialysis-related pharmaceuticals. As of December 31, 2011, the company owned and operated 108 dialysis clinics treating 7,374 patients in 19 states and the District of Columbia. It principally serves government-based programs, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Medicare-certified HMO plans, as well as commercial insurance plans. [3]
They operate their clinics exclusively through a JV model, in which they partner primarily with local nephrologists to develop, own and operate dialysis clinics, while the providers of the majority of dialysis services in the United States operate through a combination of wholly owned subsidiaries and joint ventures. Each of their clinics is maintained as a separate joint venture in which generally they have the controlling interest and their nephrologist partners and other joint venture partners have a noncontrolling interest.
