OpenNN[2] is a general purpose artificial intelligence software package, It is an open source class library written in C++ which implements neural networks. This open neural networks library was formerly known as Flood. OpenNN is based on Ph.D. thesis of R. Lopez, "Neural Networks for Variational Problems in Engineering", at Technical University of Catalonia, 2008. It uses machine learning techniques for solving data mining and predictive analytics tasks in different fields. For instance, the library has been applied in the engineering[3], energy[4], chemistry[5] sectors. The package comes with unit testing, many examples and extensive documentation. It provides an effective framework for the research and development of neural networks algorithms and applications.
At present, OpenNN is being developed by the startup company Artelnics[6]

History
- OpenNN Library development started in 2003 at the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE), within the research project funded by the European Union called RAMFLOOD.[7]
- Big Data Analytics Today ranked OpenNN at first position abong 12 brain inspired artificial intelligence projects.[8][9]
- ToppersWorld selected OpenNN among the top 5 open source data mining tools.[10]
- Artelnics won the first CLH Group award.[11]
- Neural Designer project was started from Feb 2016, the aim of this project is the development of an advanced predictive analytics system with cloud computing to move it up as one of the predictive analytics software at the market.[12]
- Artelnics was selected for the ADE 2020 program. ADE2020 is a program for accelerating innovative companies promoted by the Agency for Business Innovation and Funding of Castile and Leon (ADE).[13]
- The Artelnics development team announced the release of Neural Designer 2.0.[14]
