A WhatsApp viral message shared in Tamil Nadu, India claimed eating 2 Cardamons a day will prevent cough. Although some people have claimed eating Cardamons have stopped their cough, these claims have not been scientifically proven. According to scientific research, Cardamom is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when taken by mouth in medicinal amounts during pregnancy. There is concern that taking cardamom in amounts larger than food amounts might cause miscarriage. There is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking cardamom in medicinal amounts if you are breast-feeding. Researchers advise People should stay on the safe side and stick to food amounts. Also, according to research Cardamon taken in amount greater than those typically found in food may cause gallstone colic (spasmodic pain) with patients with gallstones
